Fayne Griffiths Plays Pickleball

Pickleball was invented in 1965, but it only recently developed a reputation for a fun way to stay fit and meet new people in the United States. Fayne Griffiths is a fan and skilled player of the game, which integrates aspects of badminton, tennis, and ping pong, makes use of a whiffle ball, a paddle-like racket, and a court similar in size, shape, and lining to a tennis court.

Fayne Griffiths was the number one women’s pickleball tournament player in 2002, ranked by the United States of America Pickleball Association. Today, Fayne Griffiths is a fan of the newly formed Columbia River Pickleball Club, which caters to pickleball enthusiasts in the Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA regions. Fayne  Griffiths brought home the first place prize, along with doubles partner Clay Reynolds, in the Group C division of CRPC’s first major event, the Beaverton Fun Tournament. Fayne Griffiths and her doubles partner pulled off a last minute win against their closest competition, with whom they shared a win-loss record for the day, achieving a score of 11-2 in the final round of the tournament.

Off the pickleball court, Fayne Griffiths is a successful financial services administrator, who has worked with students, administrators, and faculty in colleges throughout Portland to assist in the development of strong financial aid programs over the past thirty years. Currently, Fayne Griffiths is the Director of Student and Departmental Account Services at Lewis and Clark College. Fayne Griffiths has previously worked at institutions like the Pacific Northwest College of Art, the Oregon College of Art and Craft, the American College of Health Science, Clackamas Community College, and the National College of Naturopathic Medicine, holding leadership positions such as Director of Financial Aid, Director of Student Accounts, and Registrar.

Fayne Griffiths looks forward to further pickleball play with the Columbia River Pickleball Club.
